Arrived early, thanks to some insider information we received from Stuart at Skye Luxury Tours. He suggested we arrive early so we could explore Honeycomb rock and the beach area... read more near the boat launch. (See photos).

After beach exploration, we met Carol at the landing and she was friendly and helpful. Sandy and Shamus tied up the boat and gathered everyone up for a three hour excursion. We set out excited to see some wildlife and scenic views.

We saw some porpoises, dolphins, harbor seals, a number of sea birds and a couple of minke whales. I was only able to catch a few in pictures, but it was a great day. During the ride, Shamus shared stories and information about the area and wildlife. Sandy remained focused on finding the wildlife and positioning the boat so everyone could get a view. Great teamwork and their experience was obvious.

One of the great aspects of the Misty Isle, was that she sat so low in the water. You were just above the waterline, so it was much easier to see whatever was swimming in the water around the boat!

Loved this tour and we had a great time. Highly recommend!

We lucked out and had a gorgeous sunny day! Once at the loch you are on your own. We hiked around for some amazing views and photos. We brought some snacks and drinks and had a small picnic before hiking back. You have about 90minutes here and on this gorgeous day we could have used more. It was breathtaking and no photos can really do it justice. If you have time while in the area, please make this one of your stops. Misty Isle boat was a wonderful last day for us.

We were lucky enough to see... read more a sea eagle flying above us but sadly no dolphins which had been out the previous two days. We went for the standard trip giving us 1.5 hours on land which was just enough with a toddler. She loved seeing the seal colony. All in all a fantastic experience. We’ll definitely be back to do it all again. My mum is local and tells me the MacKinnons of Elgol have been doing the boat tours here for generations. Isn’t that lovely. Highly recommend for spectacular scenery, wildlife if you’re lucky and great story telling!

  We travelled with the Misty Isle yesterday for our class trip. We have 19 children in our class and every one of us thought it was excellent. Our class topic... read more has been Vikings and we were very surprised and delighted when the Skipper Sandy and Crew Seumas had dressed up as Vikings for us. We saw porpoise jumping in the water and the Misty Isle hot chocolates were amazing! We also saw lots of seals and they waved at us. The talk about Vikings and Cú Chulainn was very interesting. The walk to the loch was just the right length for our class and we had lots of fun eating our lunch with the lovely view of the mountains and the loch. It was very cool that they spoke some Gaelic to us and at the end we all go to drive the boat as well. Tapadh leibh uile!
